South West Academy Nominations

Congratulations to all the girls for a wonderful Dorset & Wilts season. Thanks also to the coaches for their time, effort and commitment. And not forgetting a huge thank you to all the parents for all their support.

The next step is the nominations are being submitted for the South West Divisional Academy program. I will be emailing everyone to inform them whether they have been nominated or not by the end of this week. Those nominated should be hearing from the South West Team Manager with information on the trials - good luck to all of those girls.

Friday 11th December

The coaches would like to be able to conduct it on grass... We are therefore planning on holding the training at Sherborne RFC (DT9 5NS). 

If for any reason (weather etc) this changes and it is back at the Oxley Sports Centre then I will post the information here as soon I know.

Training - Friday 11th December

The coaches would like to do training on grass before our last game against Devon. 

We are planning on having the training at Sherborne Rugby Club (DT9 5NS) on the floodlit pitch from 7 - 9pm. There will be access to the changing rooms. 

IF the weather changes and we can't train on the grass we will change the training back to the astro-turf at the Oxley Sports Centre.

Friday 27th November: 

Training at Oxley Sport Centre DT9 3DA on the astro-turf pitch. 7pm - 9pm.

Sunday 29th November: 

We are away to Buckinghamshire. The match is going to be at Marlow Rugby Club, Riverwoods Drive, Marlow, Buckinghamshire SL7 1QU.

Kick off is at 2pm, players meeting at 1pm. Please avoid getting there too early as they have their mini and youth playing until 12:00/12:30. 

Information on the coach going from Weymouth to Marlow has been sent to players / parents who expressed an interest in going on the coach. If your plans have changed and you need a lift on the coach please contact me as soon as you can as spaces are very limited.

Frome Festival – 15th November 2015

Please arrive at Frome by 10am, the car park will be busy (car share if you can) and there will be limited parking. When you arrive please come and find me to let me know you have arrived.

There will be one changing room for both the Under 15's and Under 18's to share so only bring what you need and please avoid leaving any valuables in there as it will not be locked. If you won't have a parent/guardian with you – I am willing to lock any valuables in my car, but avoid bringing stuff if you can.

The first match will be at 11:00 and it should all be finished by 4.

Friday 6th November

The first training session for the Under 15's and Under 18's girls.

It is to be held on the astro-turf hockey pitches at the Oxley Sports Centre (DT9 3DA), so please ensure that appropriate footwear (trainers or astro-turf trainers NO STUDS please) is brought. 

The weather is not due to be kind to us - the sports centre say the girls can use their showers afterwards if required, but they shut at 9.30pm so anyone using the showers would need to be quick. 

The Centre has also said that there will be access to cafe / vending machines for parents.

Please meet at the Oxley Sports Centre at 6.45pm so we are ready to start at 7pm. We need to discuss transportation to the Bucks Fixture. The training session will finish at 9pm.

Squad Notifications

I have emailed everyone who attended trials this year. I have had many emails bounced back - if you haven't received an email from me telling you whether you have been successful or not, please email me (dwgirlsrugby@gmail.com) so that I can pass on the information.

The full squad listings will be available in a day or so.

Selection

Thank you to all those who participated in our 2 development days at Sherborne Girls School. 

All those present showed fantastic levels of skill and commitment and have done yourself and your clubs proud. The names of those selected to the Under 15 and Under 18 squads will be updated to the relevant section of D&W website in the coming days.

Players who have been unsuccessful can contact dwgirlsrugby@gmail.com to receive individual feedback, in order to help your development. No feedback will be directly given by the coaches.

Those who have been successful will receive an email detailing instructions on ordering playing kit, and requesting confirmation of their availability to attend the planned training/fixtures

Just a reminder that there are no refreshments being laid on at Sherborne Girls School. I believe that the Oxley Sports Centre does have cafe facilities.

Second Part of Trials / Selection - Sunday 4th October

At Sherborne Girls School from 12:00 - 15:00. Meet in the Oxley Sports Centre Car Park (DT9 3DA). All players must arrive dressed ready for the trials.

Parents / guardians are allowed to stay to watch the trials, but they must remain at least 5 metres from the training areas and not interact with the girls for the duration of the trials. 

For those girls that were unable to attend the first part of the trials on 20th September, please can you arrive ready to start at 11:30 (half an hour early) and please ensure that you bring your completed and signed Player Contact and Consent Form (see link in earlier post).

If you can't make it due to injury or pre-arranged commitments, please let me know (dwgirlsrugby@gmail.com).

1st half of the trails

Well done to everyone that managed to get to the first half of the Trials on Sunday.

The second half of the trials will be on Sunday 4th October from 12:00 - 15:00 again at Sherborne Girls School - Meeting in Oxley Sports Centre.

There was some confusion as to whether parents / guardians were allowed to stay to watch the trials, they are, but they must remain at least 5 metres from the training areas and not interact with the girls for the duration of the trials. I hope this clarifies the situation.

The coaches / assessors will make their decisions on the County Squad after this second session.

Trials at Sherbourne Girls School

20th September 2015 at Sherborne Girls School. Meet in the Oxley Sport Centre Car Park (DT9 3DA) at 9am. All players must arrive dressed ready for the trials. The trials should conclude at 12:00.

Parents/Guardians are advised that they must remain away from the training areas and not interact with the girls for the duration of the trials. 

Sherbourne Girls School is a working school with boarders and staff living there, as such, please refrain from wandering around the school. It is a non smoking site and dogs are not permitted.

County Trials

The County Trials are to be held at Sherbourne Girls School on Sunday 20th September. Meet in the Oxley Sports Centre Car Park (DT9 3DA) at 9am. All players must arrive dressed ready for the trials. 

Parents: Once your daughter has been nominated by their club / school you will receive an email with the fixtures list and Contact and Consent form (which MUST be brought with them to trials).

Players: If you are unsure whether you have been nominated then please check with your coach / team manager at your club / school. If they haven't received the nominations request from us please ask them to email dwgirlsrugby@gmail.com urgently.

Nominations for County

The Nomination forms have been sent out to schools and clubs in Dorset and Wilts. The return date for Nominations is Thursday 17th September.

D&W U18 Girl makes RFU National Talent Development Group

Congratulations to Jade Shakespeare of Oakmeadians RFC for being selected as part of RFU National Academy U18s Talent Development Group for 2015/16. On behalf of Dorset & Wilts, we wish her the best of luck in her development over the next 12 months Gordon & Ross

Update on Upcoming Girls rugby events

As the 15th of March is Mothers Day, there will be no activity. We are looking at holding a club 7s tournament on 26th April @ Chippenham RFC. More details will follow shortly.

Development Day 8th Feb 2015

A number of clubs have requested that they would like to use our development day as a club day. Therefore, there will no CB event on this day.
